We believe it is important for children to worship with their family. Being with the community is meaningful for young and older alike. Each Sunday we have a special time during worship (Children’s Sermon) for our children to hear a story or participate in a discussion about our theme for the day. All ages are welcome to come forward to participate.

We have worship bags that invite children to be a part of the service and participate, no matter their level of understanding or ability. We also have tables and a pray-ground space in the back filled with things to keep kiddos engaged. The children are invited to sit at the table that is staffed with two nursery volunteers that have passed background checks. Or the children can take the activities back to where they are seated with their parents.

 

Godly Play is for children ages 4 years old through 5th Grade and is held Sunday evenings at Spirit of Joy from 6:00pm to 7:00pm (September - May). Making meaning through story, wonder, and play. Godly Play nurtures spiritual lives by honoring the centrality, competency, and capacity of children. Experience it! (All teachers have undergone a background check before serving the children.)

Confirmation classes are available to students in middle school. It is a three year program that focuses on the Old and New Testaments, Lutheran History, and Luther's Small Catechism. Spirit of Joy collaborates on confirmation with Emanuel’s Lutheran Church in Seguin. Currently classes are held once a month. There are also opportunities for summer camp and retreats throughout the year. Upon completion, each student has the opportunity to affirm their baptism.
